Top Songs of Discover Weekly #1

Spotify has a nifty playlist for you to follow called "Discover Weekly". It takes a few weeks to curate, but once you've listened to music on Spotify for that long, it will give you about 30 suggested songs every week. In my personal experience, there have been good weeks and bad weeks. Some weeks, I receive suggestions of music that I already have in my playlists; in others, though, I have found some really great bands that fit with my usual genres of music or introductions to bands that I normally wouldn't give the time of day.

That said, I'm going to start documenting my top/favorite song suggestions each week. I didn't set a number of songs per week, as Spotify's algorithm is just not the best just yet, but I figured if I can find just one new song a week then that's something. Hopefully, this will introduce y'all to some new music, too.

As for this week, only two songs really stuck out for me.....

1. "Sullivan" - Caroline's Spine

If you've ever been in the Navy, you know who the Sullivans are and how all five brothers were lost when the USS Juneau sunk during the Battle of Guadalcanal. This song hits right to the heart of this Sailor.

2. "Don't Stop" - Innerpartysystem

My typical musical taste errs to that of Hard Rock, Metal, Industrial, Electronic Body Music, Goth Rock, and Symphonic Rock. This band seems to encompass a few of those all at the same time. It's definitely something I could rock out and dance to at Goth/Industrial night.
